2012 Shakespeare Sprites (Ages 4 to 6)


A fun and creative introduction to performance and theater designed specifically for ages 4-6. This program does not require reading skills and is active and engaging for younger campers. Shakespeare Sprites engage in exciting arts projects based on Shakespeare’s magical characters from Macbeth (our upcoming school tour show) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. On the final day, Sprites host an open class for family and friends. Meets for two weeks, Mon-Fri, 9:00 am - Noon. $295 for enrollments received prior to Jan 31, 2012.

2012 Shakespeare Players (Ages 7 to 13)

Each two-week session presents a series of structured, performance-oriented workshops under the guidance of trained Shakespeare Festival staff. Each camp finishes with a mini performance of a Shakespeare play, staged and acted by campers for an audience of family and friends. The performances conclude with a celebratory cast party. These educational camps are appropriate for first timers as well as more experienced young actors. Players Camps meet for two weeks, Mon-Fri, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm; optional aftercare until 5:30 at most locations.
$444 for two weeks; $579 with aftercare for enrollments received prior to Jan 31, 2012.

  • 2011 Upstart Crows (Teen Shakespeare Camp for ages 12 to 18)

    Upstart Crows Camps meet for two weeks, Mon-Fri, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Camps are designed to help aspiring thespians develop voice and movement skills and delve more deeply into understanding Shakespeare's language while having fun with their peers. Training in stage combat, and audition technique is also included. Each camp concludes with a performance for families and friends.
    $444 for two weeks for enrollments received prior to Jan 31, 2012.

    Advanced Shakespeare Workshop (audition and interview required to enroll; call 415-865-4425 or send email to schedule audition)

    This conservatory-style program includes intensive voice, movement, text, stage combat, mask, and monologue and scene work, and culminates in a showcase on the final Friday. Participants will also have the chance to present their work in other venues, such as the San Francisco Theatre Festival and Free Shakespeare in the Park. Participation in ASW is by audition only. Dates of the two-week session will be July 16-27, 2012.

    We are pleased to coninue offering the new EXTENDED version of ASW. After the first two weeks, actors have the option to stay on for an additional two weeks and rehearse for an an hour-long version of a Shakespeare play (TBA). This show will be fully staged, with costumes, props, and scenery provided by the Festival, and have multiple performances. This month-long intensive will be available to any young actor accepted to the ASW. Please note that you must be a part of the initial two-week training course to be a part of the full production - you cannot attend for only the last two weeks. The four-week ASW will be held July 16-August 10, 2012.

    Intersession Camp is scheduled to accommodate students on a year-round academic calendar. The camp meets for two weeks, Mon-Fri, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm; optional aftercare available until 5:30. Scripts, supplies and materials for staging performance on the final day of camp all included for $444 for two weeks; $579 with aftercare.
