Students (ages 7-18) learned about Shakespeare's theatre in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Campers were taught by theatre practitioners who led interactive classes in Shakespeare's poetry, clowning traditions, and stage combat. The camps culminated in a final performance of an abridged Shakespeare play for family and friends. More info on our FAQ page.
Our two-week Shakespeare Players Camp offered students the chance to stage a classic Shakespeare play. For summer of 2020 Shakespeare Players staged online productions of The Witches' Brew and Macbeth. There were five two-week virtual camp sessions, starting in June and ending early August.
Teen actors delved deeply into the world of Shakespearean performance in our Upstart Crows programs. For the summer of 2020, SF Shakes offered teen camps throughout the Bay Area that culminated in a student production of King Lear. Over the the Fall of 2019 and Spring of 2020, we offered Upstart Crows Saturdays , a 10-12 weeks in San Francisco that culminated in the production of a Shakespeare play.
The Advanced Shakespeare Workshop (ASW) is our audition-based summer conservatory program that features advanced training in acting methodologies. Classes meet Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:00pm. Please email or add your name to the updates list to receive notice of future sessions.
