Bay Area Shakespeare Camps

We are so excited to be returning to in person Shakespeare Camp for Summer 2022!

We've already started in-person sessions with our Saturday Upstart Crows program that concluded in mid-November. Safety protocols and guidelines allowed for a ten-week program that featured a full scale production of one of Shakespeare’s most intriguing plays, Timon of Athens, presented to an audience of family and friends. All were delighted and gratified by this return to in-person camp and performance. The process of lining up camp sites for this summer is already well underway and once enrollment begins we expect pent-up demand to  fill sessions quickly. If you've already attended one of our camps (in-person or virtually) we'll send notice as soon as enrollment is open. If you're not on the list, sign up here to be included in the first notifications!

Exciting changes coming this summer:

3-week sessions for ages 11 and up!
We believe our 3-week model adopted for virtual camp will provide us with the time and space to delve deeper into Shakespeare’s work, play even more games, and have extra space to breathe and play together. NOTE: we are still offering 2-week camps for elementary schoolers (rising 2nd-5th graders aged 7-10).

Reimagined games and activities!
Our Education Workgroup has been working all year to revamp camp favorites and add new activities, reaffirming our mission of sharing Shakespeare’s work collaboratively, reflectively and through an anti-racist, community-minded lens.

Brand new middle school camp!
A 3-week session designed specifically for rising 6th-8th graders, ages 11-13. Historically, 12 and 13 year old campers had to choose between Players Camp and Upstart Crows. Now, campers will have a space of their own to explore with peers of their own age, working off a curriculum created specifically for this unique time of adolescence.
