Famous Speeches 13 Hamlet Playland

Speak the speech, I pray you, as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue...

In partnership with the Friends of Playland at 43rd Ave, SF Shakes is thrilled to celebrate the first birthday of this new community space in the Outer Sunset neighborhood (at 1360 43rd Ave, San Francisco). Festival artists will present a short scene from our upcoming Free Shakespeare in the Park production of Hamlet, followed by an opportunity for children to participate in a Playshop activity, and "speak the speech" themselves!

Featuring Will Shattuc. Directed by Rebecca Ennals.

In 2017, SF Shakes will present a series of free, short, site-specific performances called “35 Famous Speeches in 35 Famous Places” celebrating the Festival’s 35-year history in San Francisco. From February to August 2017, culminating in the opening performances of Hamlet in San Francisco, the Festival’s professional actors and students will present free public performances of the Bard’s most famous speeches, surrounded by iconic San Francisco landmarks.
