Ella Francis Juliet

Ella Ruth Francis is thrilled to be returning to the story of Romeo and Juliet having just recently played the role of Juliet with the Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company. She first came in contact with SF Shakes in their summer camps when she was 6 and fell completely in love with the Bard's language. She eventually ended up joining the company on their free Shakespeare in the park productions of Macbeth and Taming of the Shrew. Since then she has gotten to work around the Bay Area and recently completed the actor training program with the Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) on the Central Coast.

Myles Romo Romeo

Myles Romo is excited to join the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival as Romeo. This is his second time he will be playing as Romeo alongside one of his closesst friends, Ella Ruth Francis. Other credits include: King Pelias in Argonautika (PCPA), Mr. Henderson in You Can't Take It With You (PCPA), Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (Delta Drama), and El-Fayoumy in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Delta Drama).

Ted Zoldan Nurse/Benvolio

Ted made his debut with SF Shakes as Orsino/Sir Toby in the 2016-2017 tour production of Twelfth Night. A graduate of San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Ted has recently appeared with Custom Made Theater Co., Ray of Light, Boxcar Theater, West Edge Opera, Cinnabar Theatre, Town Hall Theatre Co. and Opera San Jose. Favorite roles include John Jasper in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Cop in Middletown, Malvolio in Twelfth Night, Kirby Witt in The Speakeasy, Rapunzel's Prince in Into the Woods, Iro in The Return of Ulysses, Barfée in Spelling Bee, and Harry in Company.

Robyn Grahn Mercutio/Friar

Robyn Grahn is thrilled to debut with the SF Shakespeare Festival in the 2017 Fall Tour of Romeo and Juliet. Robyn has been performing in the Bay Area for more than 5 years. Favorite roles include Emilie (Emilie), Elinor (Sense and Sensibility), Margaret/Pamela/Annabella (The 39 Steps), World Powers (Dark is a Different Beast), Phoebe (As You Like It), and Louka (Arms and the Man). She has also performed in Maui with Maui Onstage Theatre and has trained with ACT and the Moscow Art Theatre. Including theatre, Robyn delights in SCUBA diving, gardening, wildlife, and science.

Akaina Ghosh Tybalt/Capulet

Akaina Ghosh is thrilled to be portraying such lively and fantastical characters for their SF Shakes debut. Akaina trained with One Year Lease and New York Stage and Film while attending Vassar College in New York, where they received their BA in Drama. Akaina is a Core member of Ragged Wing Ensemble and performs regularly with various companies around the Bay Area. Recent performances include Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Inferno Theater), Bonnie in How to Be a White Man (FaultLine Theater), and Noor in SoundWaves (EnActe Arts). Follow Akaina at


Natalie Ayala Juliet (Alternate)

Natalie Ayala fell in love with Theater in the 8th grade when she performed in Olympus as Athena. She has trained at the A.C.T. She has been featured in shows such as The Mouse Trap (Mollie Ralston); You Can’t Take It With You (Mrs. Kirby), Sweet Charity (Hostess), and Sofa Sin Casa (Corrine). She was featured in San Francisco State University Shakespeare Goes To School Cabaret. She was also involved in SFSU Brown Bag where she was featured in shows such as Trifles (Mrs. Peters), Five Women Wearing the Same Dress (Trisha), and Immaculate (Gabriel) . She has currently earned her BA in Theater Arts at San Francisco State University and was recently seen in the 2017 SF Shakes production of Hamlet.

Steven Ho Romeo (Alternate)

Steven is ecstatic to be working with SF Shakes on one of the Bard's most famous plays. Steven has worked with many theaters in the Bay Area including: Ubuntu Theater project, Berkeley Rep, Silicon Valley Shakespeare Company, NCTC and received his training at Foothill College in Los Altos.

Sarah Williams Nurse/Benvolio (Alternate)

Sarah is thrilled to be joining the cast of Romeo and Juliet in her first show with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. She holds a BA in theatre performance from SDSU and has completed a Shakespeare intensive program at LAMDA in the UK. Favorite past roles include Chiron in Titus Andronicus (Vallejo Shakes), Paulina in The Winter’s Tale (LAMDA), Maggie in The Shadowbox (Arizona Western College), and Nerissa in The Merchant of Venice (Arizona Western College). Sarah is new to the bay area and is enjoying all the theatre Northern California has to offer.


Alison Whismore Mercutio/Friar (Alternate)

Alison is excited to come aboard the SF Shakes School Tour of Romeo and Juliet, having previously played the Gertrude Alternate in the SF Shakes Hamlet tour. A veteran tour actor, she has performed extensively in France, Switzerland, Belgium, the UK and North America, in an eclectic range of venues. The eternal road girl, she moved to Northern California in 2010 to seek more adventure and has been seen occasionally in a play here and there: The Tempest & Persuasion– Livermore Shakespeare Festival, Pride and Prejudice – Sacramento Theatre Company, Pear Slices 2017 – The Pear Theatre , The Magic Bus SF and working as a Teaching Artist for several theatre companies including San Francisco Shakespeare Festival.


Tin Le Tybalt/Capulet (Alternate)

Tin is made his debut with SF Shakes as an alternate for Orsino/Sir Toby in this past spring's Twelfth Night tour. He received a double B.A. from UC San Diego in Theatre and History, with emphasis on acting and directing. Some of his past credits include: Bus Stop, War of the Worlds, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Hamlet. He also worked in multiple new play festivals, creating and developing original theatrical works. He would like to thank his family and friends for their endless amount of support and love.


Carla Pantoja*+ Director

Carla is excited to be working with Shakespeare on Tour. She has most recently played Paulina in The Winter’s Tale, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, and Kate in The Taming of the Shrew in Free Shakespeare in the Park. She’s performed with Cal Shakes, Shotgun Players, Crowded Fire, Playground, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, and the SF Mime Troupe in the Bay Area to name a few. Carla is a certified fight instructor and a founding member of Dueling Arts San Francisco. She is a proud member of Playground and a Resident Artist with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival.
