Cast Members of 'Julius Caesar'

Francis Serpa headshot

Francis Serpa (Julius Caesar, Trebonius, Lucius, Plebeian #4) is excited to go back on the road with Shakespeare on Tour, after playing Romeo with them a few years ago, and is especially excited to work on Julius Caesar as it's his favorite play by the bard.  Francis began acting at College of Marin and transferred to UC Santa Barbara where he earned his BFA in Theatre. Most recently he's worked with Ross Valley Players, Actors Ensemble of Berkeley, and Tides Theatre.

Melanie Marshall headshot Melanie Marshall (Cassius, Plebeian #2) is excited to be joining Shakespeare on Tour! She received her BA in Theatre from Cal Poly University, during which time she spent one semester studying at each London Dramatic Academy and American Conservatory Theatre. Recently she was seen in Sacramento in Outrage (Big Idea Theatre); As You Like It and Nightingale (Davis Shakespeare Ensemble); Midsummer Night's Dream (Sacramento Theatre Company); Brave Spirits (B Street School Tour); and How I Learned to Drive (Capital Stage). Other credits include Midsummer and Treasure Island (Central Coast Shakespeare Festival) and improv shows We Smell Like America and All Joking Aside... (Edinburgh Fringe Festival).

Phil Wong headshot

Phil Wong (Cobbler, Casca, Cinna the Poet, Octavius, Pindarus, Plebeian #1) is ecstatic to be joining the SF Shakes tour! Born and raised in the Bay Area, Phil decided it would be a good idea to go to school in the frozen tundra of Ohio where he attended Oberlin College. At Oberlin, he majored in Theatrical Direction and Performance. After spending a semester abroad in the sunny rolling hills of Tuscany studying Commedia and Mask Performance at the Accademia dell’Arte, he decided that the next logical step was to go back to Oberlin and complete a minor in East Asian Studies (which he did). Phil is a fervent advocate for equal representation for performers of color in live performance and media as well as a proud supporter of the Asian American Performers Action Coalition in New York City. He is relatively new to the Bay Area theatre scene and SF Shakes will mark his second performance credit, the first being Eddie/Doctor Scott in The Rocky Horror Show at Boxcar Theatre. He would like to take this opportunity to smother his parents with love for allowing him to pursue his passions and not forcing him into pharmacy school.
Jaideep Sahai Jaideep Sahai (Brutus,Plebeian #3) graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a double major in psychology and theatre, where he spent a semester abroad at London Dramatic Academy to study classical acting. After college, Jai received his MA in Theatre and Performance Studies from UCLA, completing his thesis on Asian American Theatre and later received his second MA in Acting: The British Tradition from Birmingham School of Acting in England, where his thesis was on Indian performance of Shakespeare. In the Bay Area, he has had numerous credits on stage, and can be seen in the web series Armageddon Inc. and Copy and Pastry.

Amber Sommerfeld (Antony, Soothsayer, Portia) is so excited to be back with SF Shakes tour again this year!  Originally from Montana, Amber moved to the Bay to attend Santa Clara University. She graduated in 2012 with a Theater Arts Major and Musical Theater Minor. She has been seen in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Woman’s Will), Spamalot (Pacific Repertory Theatre), Taming of the Shrew (Half Moon Bay Shakespeare), Jack Rabbit, Macbeth and The Arab Springs (SJREAL at San Jose Rep) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (SF Shakes).  Amber is also the Dialect Coach at Palo Alto High School and has written for SJREAL. She is so thankful for all the love and support here and back home. Yay Shakespeare!
