Hamlet Cast Members

David Abad (King/Ghost) a native of San Francisco, has performed all over the West Coast with Bus Barn Stage Company, Curtain Theatre, Murphys Creek Theatre, Sierra Repertory Theatre, Hapgood Theatre Company, Bobrow Productions, California Theatre Center and Murder on the Menu, and previously with Shakespeare on Tour in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night and Romeo and Juliet. He can also be seen on computer screens as the snide Toltec Chamberlain in Maxis' CD-ROM game The Crystal Skull, starring Edward James Olmos.

Leticia Duarte (Gertrude/Marcellus) is delighted to join SF Shakespeare on Tour for their production of Hamlet.
Ms. Duarte has worked with Teatro Vision, Actors Ensemble of Berkeley, Woman's Will, Cuttingball Theatre, Douglas Morrison Little Theatre, Stage 1 Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre & Willows Theatre Company. Leticia also enjoys acting in the world of commercials, industrials and voice-overs. Look for her work in the winter with Active Arts Theatre in Ramona Quimby. As a proud Theatre Bay Area Member, she gives you her most heartfelt thanks for supporting live theatre!

Carl Holvick-Thomas (Hamlet) last appeared in Marin Shakespeare's Julius Caesar as Octavius Caesar. He also performed in Shotgun Player's Skylight last Spring. Carl holds an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in Theater and Performance Studies. While at Cal, he played Angelo in Measure for Measure, Dionysus in The Bacchae, Max Malone in Suburban Motel, and Professor Trixie in The Cradle Will Rock. Carl has also worked with other Bay Area theaters such as Impact, Cutting Ball, and the Berkeley City Club. He taught drama in Cape Town, South Africa with Dance for All, and is currently teaching theater with kids and teens around the Bay Area."

Lyndsy Kail (Ophelia/Horatio) is excited to come full circle with SF Shakes as once having been a summer camper with the Festival. Credits include seven productions with the California Shakespeare Theater including Arms and the Man, The Tempest, and An Ideal Husband. A recent graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in Classics, she continues dramatic studies with L. Peter Callender.

Jeremy Vik, is excited to return for another year of Shakespeare On Tour! He started working with SF Shakes two years ago, playing the roles of Sir Andrew Aguecheek and Sebastiona in the 2007-08 tour of Twelfth Night. Since then he has taught at Bay Area Shakespeare Camps and performed as Dromio of Ephesus in the Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Comedy of Errors. Jeremy has also worked for Virago Theatre Company, Jump! Theatre, El Gato Family Theatre, and Tony & Tina's Wedding. Jeremy is a proud graduate of the Clown Conservatory.


Cast Alternates

Jack Halton (King/Ghost) graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in N.Y. in 1969. A well known Shakespeare and Beckett actor, Halton traveled with Margrit Roma's New Shakespeare Co. in 1973 and played The Ghost in Hamlet throughout the U.S. He's proud to be in a traveling group of Players, again, doing Hamlet, playing a part Shakespeare acted, some 36 years later. He lives in North Beach and spends all his free time in Yosemite.

Livia Demarchi (Gertrude/Marcellus) is thrilled to continue working with SF Shakes! She made her debut with the company in last season's hit tour of Romeo and Juliet. She also understudied the roles of Balthasar, Couetesan,, Emilia, and Jailer in the Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Comedy of Errors. Born and raised in Brazil, she attended the renowned Macunaima School of Theatre in Sao Paulo and moved to the Bay Area 7 years ago to pursue theatre. Favorite credits include: Moby Dick, the musical at Theatre Rhinoceros; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Lucy/Witch) at Sonoma County Rep; Othello (Desdemona) at Macunaima Theater Company in Sao Paulo; A Midsummer Night's Dream (Helena) at the Phoenix Theatre; Gown for his Mistress (Yvonne) directed by Jeffrey Bihr and The Green Bird (Ninetta) directed by Leslie Felbain. Nick Jackson (Hamlet) was cast in the role of Romeo in last season's Shakespeare On Tour production of Romeo & Juliet. He has appeared as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Impact Theatre); Tubal in The Merchant of Venice (Butterfield 8 Theatre); Touchstone in As You Like It, Antipholus in A Comedy of Errors, Hortensio in The Taming of the Shrew, and Horatio in Hamlet (all Antioch Classical Theare). In additon to having directing and film experience he's also received the Acting Excellence Award for his performance in Crimes of the Heart at the ULV 2006 Theater Festival.

Mariah Castle (Ophelia/Horatio) is a Bay Area actress and teacher. Recent credits include Romeo & Juliet (SF Shakes' Shakespeare on Tour), Where the Sidewalk Ends (Boxcar Theatre), The Wedding Singer (Willows Theatre), A Midsummer Night's Dream and Henry V (Subterranean Shakespeare), and Tony n Tina's Wedding (ongoing). Watch for her in Boxcar's Museum this fall. Mariah is also a proud drama instructor in the Berkeley Public School System, and has taught with the Bay Area Shakespeare Camps (SF Shakes) for the past two summers. Sharon Huff (Polonius/Laertes) has been acting in the Bay Area for almost twenty years. She performed in Shakespeare On Tour's Romeo & Juliet last season as Benvolio and the Nurse. This was the third production of Romeo and Juliet she's been cast in, first playing Juliet, and then Capulet. Other fun parts have been Miranda in The Tempest, and Lady Sneerwell in School for Scandal.
