Advanced Shakespeare Workshop

4-week session: July 11-Aug 5
3-week session: July 18-Aug 5

The Advanced Shakespeare Workshop is our conservatory-style program for ages 11-18.

Enrollment in this program requires previous acting experience and a successful audition. (Returning ASW actors are not required to audition - simply email us to request the enrollment link.)

Experienced performers now have the option to enroll in a 3 or 4 week version of the Advanced Shakespeare Workshop!
Those who opt for the 4-week program week will have the opportunity to focus on playwriting during the first week, July 11-15.
The following 3 weeks (July 18-August 5)  will be an acting intensive that incorporates some of the material generated by actors in week 1 (July 11-15). Actors will take a deep dive into the themes and language of Shakespeare and engage in a thorough examination of character motives and objectives. The 4-week ASW also features content on approaches to directing .
The program culminates with the performance of a shortened Shakespeare play (family and friends are invited to attend), title TBA, as well as some of the material generated by students in week 1.

The ASW will be led by Education Workgroup member Ayelet Schrek, who specializes in the intersections of arts and socio-politics, the integration of multiple artistic forms, and the facilitation of brave and generous workspaces.

Please email a video audition consisting of a 1 - 2 minute Shakespeare monologue, preferably shot waist up or full body with good lighting and sound. We will contact you for an interview. Submissions will be considered in the order that they are received. Past ASW students do not need to send a video but should send an email expressing their interest.
NOTE: Enrollment capacity for this program is limited to 16.
