Teaching Artist Needed

“Shakespeare for All Neighbors” is a pilot storytelling workshop series in San Francisco.
It's a 6-week program, that meets Dec 9 - Jan 20, Fridays 12:30pm-2:30pm (excluding Dec 23) at The Minna Lee Hotel, 149 6th St., San Francisco

We are looking for a Teaching Artist to co-lead workshops in Shakespeare and Storytelling for neighbors experiencing homelessness in the Tenderloin. This individual should ideally have experience in social justice, outreach, or Theatre of the Oppressed (or similar) methodology, as well as some knowledge of Shakespeare’s works. Empathy, resilience, and the ability to hold space are essential skills. Responsibilities include following curriculum and collaborating with a lead teaching artist to lead groups in creative thinking, acting, improv, and storytelling exercises. There will also be a need for regular communication with your SF Shakes team and the folks at Healing Well and the on-site support.

SF Shakes is a fully vaccinated company (including booster) and can provide KN95 masks to be worn while teaching. Covid protocols may include regular testing and/or mask wearing.

Compensation is $50/hr for teaching hours, $31/hr for prep time, $25/hour for training and a post session Review & Reflect.
